Identity Theft
Violated. That’s the word that comes to mind. Have you ever had your identity stolen from you? Nothing feels worse. It leaves you with a sick feeling in the pit of your stomach. You feel lost and want your identity back. What a great feeling to finally get it back and have it secure. Do you know how badly the crook wants to steal your identity?
As children of God, we have our identity in Christ. Our identity has been secured and there is no reason to look for our identity in another. Satan wants to rob the children of God of their identity in Christ, and can do that in many ways. One of which is trying to get your identity from another person.
Ever notice how people will try to identify with stars or somebody famous or somebody they feel is important? Why is that? Bring up some famous person’s name to somebody who is not secure in their identity in Christ and watch them attempt to be associated with that person. They feel a need to be IMPORTANT too, so they name drop or attach themselves to the identity of another person. If they ever get to meet such a person they will say something like…”I am third cousins with your mother in law’s niece.” ….anything to identify ourselves with this famous or perceived important person.
